Lincoln and Macclesfield go into this encounter on Tuesday
evening looking to improve on their
mixed starts to the season, both clubs have had a worrying time over the
summer regarding the finances and have done well to get competitive teams.
Lincoln have played 2 of the expected promotion challengers
, Eastleigh and Cheltenham where they
held their own by drawing them both 1- 1 , they won at Braintree 1 - 3.
Macclesfield lost the 1st game of the season 1-0
when they played Torquay United away from home, they drew the 2nd
game 0-0 at home to Southport and have beaten Welling 2-1 this weekend
Lincoln made around 10 new signings in the close season,
including former Macclesfield loanee Luke Waterfall. Luke spent 3 months at the
Moss Rose at the beginning of last season and formed a great partnership with
George Pilkington. Other signings at Lincoln include Matt Rhead who was
released by Mansfield, Matthew Sparrow from Scunthorpe, Craig Stanley from
Eastleigh, Jack Muldoon from Rochdale, and Lee Beevers from Mansfield.
Macclesfield managed to keep the majority of the team
together after a successful season last term, they lost three key players in
the form of Scott Barrow and Rhys Taylor to Newport County and Adriano Moke to
Wrexham. The Silkmen signed goalkeeper Shwan Jalai who was a free agent, Curtis
Haynes-Brown from Lowestoft, Neil Byrne from AFC Telford also Theo
Bailey-Jones, John Marsden, Jack Sampson and Kristian Dennis.

match was played at Sincil Bank in September with goals from Tom Miller and Ben
Tomlinson in a 2-0 victory, Macclesfield got there revenge at the Moss Rose
with goals from Denny Johnstone, Paul Lewis and Matthew Barnes-Homer in a 3-0
victory.
