SOUND OFF: HEREFORD UNITED

Here is the first in our SOUND OFF series, giving fans the chance to discuss the current situation at their club, whether it be praising their management team, players and/or club hierarchy or simply venting at present state of affairs.

First up, Hereford United ...

"Over the past 5 or 6 months, the heart of Hereford United has been well and truly ripped out. The fan base is divided, the owner is in hiding and last season’s football creditors remain unpaid – despite on numerous occasions club representatives claiming otherwise.

A timeline of events since Tommy Agombar’s takeover of Hereford United is available here (http://bullsnews.blogspot.co.uk/p/the-saga-of-hereford-united-hereford.html).

We are told that the current chairman of the charade is a Mr. Andy Lonsdale, who is responsible for the insolvencies of some 30 companies – just 10 of which rack up a combined debt of over £7million.

This is the same Mr Lonsdale who is responsible for the demise of Feltham FC, and the dumping of thousands of tons worth of waste and soil being buried on the site.

Lonsdale has also admitted in front of the courts three accounts of fly tipping, landing him with 260 hours of community service.

You would think that the FA wouldn’t dream of letting this man take the reigns of the 1972 FA Cup giant-killers, but they did. The FA has deemed Andy Lonsdale as fit and proper – unsurprisingly supporters disagree.

In the past week, several ‘official’ statements from the club focus solely on ranting about the supporters trust.

Despite dwindling attendances at Hereford United, supporters are not just forgetting about the club. Instead, the members of the Hereford United Supporters Trust voted overwhelmingly in favour of a boycott. This is still going strong.

The fans of what used to be Hereford United have been abandoned by the FA, who just don’t seem interested in a team in the 7th tier of English football – the 2 division demotion was labeled as a ‘business decision’, a distasteful act which quickly led to the boycott.

But it’s not just Hereford who they FA have let down, it’s also the likes of Salisbury and Birmingham; the FA’s ODT just isn’t fit and proper for its purpose.

On Monday December 1stHereford United will be back in the high courts with a winding up order that has been adjourned what must be 10 times. Promises of investments, CVAs and a whole load of other things have landed them with adjournments, which in some cases were for up to 6 weeks.

For months now the club has come out with lie after lie after lie and everyone is losing their patience. HMRC was adamant to wind the club up at the last hearing, but this didn’t happen. On numerous occasions the club has got someone investing in it, only for something to go wrong at the last minute – the blame always being placed on the supporters who are against the regime.

Local businessmen have got plans in place ready to start a phoenix club if Hereford United (1939) ltd gets wound up, but before then, supporters will just have to sit tight and wait for the law to decide.

But the question on everybody’s lips is just when will this nightmare be over."
