Check out our brief interview with Queen of the South striker Iain Russell below.
How do you feel last season went for the club?
Last season went really well for the club.
Considering we were the promoted team into the division finishing 4th was a
fantastic achievement. However we can look back at the start we had to the
season and perhaps we could have challenged for the title if we had started
better.
What were some of the highs and lows of the 2013/14 campaign for you personally?
Finishing as the top scorer for the club was a
personal high for me in my first season with the team. I really enjoyed playing
in a great team who provided me with plenty chances to score goals. We reached the play offs which was great however
we found ourselves in a great position against Falkirk and in the second leg we
were 3-1 overall in the tie before going out in extra time and that was a low
point of the season.
How has pre-season gone for you on a personal level so far?
The manager has kept almost the full squad from
last season so it was great to come back pre season with the same faces. It's a
great dressing room and the manager has shown faith in us all and we must
repeat last seasons efforts. Pre season has been tough as expected but we have
a fit squad and the boys have performed well with what was asked of us during
pre season.
We're quickly approaching the 2014/15 kick-off, what are you looking forward to most this season?
Obviously this seasons Championship has been much
publicised due to Rangers, Hibs and
Hearts being in the same league. It is great for Queen of the South to have
these games to look forward to and I personally can't wait. However we can't let
the fact these teams are in our league affect us and we have to concentrate on
ourselves and try and finish as high up the table as possible.
